Mother's Day 2019

Central Coast Family Photographer

To celebrate Mother’s Day 2019, I’ve put together a collection of some my favourite mummy photos from the last 12 months. This is part 1 - there will be another blog post to follow (I can’t narrow it down - I love all these images!!).

Here’s to all the beautiful women in our lives.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Melissa and baby Lexi

The Francis family were given a gift voucher for their photography session and rather than do it when Lexi was a newborn, they chose to wait until she was 10 months old and so freaking cute!! To see more of their session click here.

Tara and baby Charlie Rose

This beautiful mum was taking everything in her stride during our photography session together - broken sleep and a fussy newborn didn’t worry Tara at all. To see more of their session click here.

Ashley and baby Sonny

This is a beautiful quiet moment between Ashley and Sonny. I can guarantee you that just out of camera is big brother Finn who was waxing lyrical about all things philosophical. He was an absolute crack up! To see more of their session click here.

Jo, Matt and Jack

Jo was absolutely glowing for her maternity photography session. She was more than happy to go bushwalking with her little family to get some gorgeous images. TO see more of her session click here.

Kate, adam and khan

Kate and Adam were living overseas when Khan was born, so a newborn photography gift voucher was the perfect present for them when they came back to Australia for a visit. To see more of their session click here.

Zena and Family

Zena was watching her adult children prepare to leave home and so decided to book in a photography session before she had an empty nest. This gorgeous family had a great afternoon hanging at home and at the beach. To see more of their session click here.

Short n sweet... with the Stewart family

Central Coast Family Photographer

This family have only recently moved into their new home, so it was really special to be able to capture beautiful family photos on their amazing property. The older girls were lovely, although a little shy when I first arrived. It often happens with the tweens, the camera can seem a little intimidating. Thankfully, as soon we we went for a walk and got talking they were able to relax. Little Evie was an absolute crack up - six years old and full of sass, nothing worried little Evie, least of all a silly old camera. She was happy to tear around, dancing and just enjoying being loved by her parents.

I enjoy seeing how each of the kids interact with their parents. Evie the youngest with full of enthusiasm and hugged her mum and dad with unbounded joy whenever she passed near. Amelia and Sara were more reserved, but each quietly leaned in to snuggle with their parents when a quiet moment allowed for it. Together the girls had that camaraderie that only a sister can know - shared love, laughter and easy, friendly banter.

Hanging out with this lovely family was a great way to spend an autumn afternoon.

Short n sweet... with nanny and poppy Ransley

Central Coast Family Photographer

Nanny Carol was given a great present for Christmas - a gift voucher for a photography session with yours truly! These active grandparents spend a lot of time with their adorable grandson Khan, so it was only natural that they wanted to include him in the session too.

Unfortunately when I turned up for their session, little Khan was sick. The poor little guy was struggling with his asthma and just doing it tough. All he wanted was to snuggle in poppy’s arms. And that was perfectly ok, because we got some beautiful photos of the boys together.

Khan was such a little champion - he soldiered on, kicking his footy, playing in his amazing car (with some nifty remote control driving by poppy) and following his dog Dottie around.

Short n sweet... with the Cutcliffe family

I think one of the things I love most about my photography business is being able to document a families journey through the years. This gorgeous family had a maternity session before their youngest was born. I then got to be there for Miss Tegan’s newborn photos. And now they have done another family session together. I love seeing the little changes - Theo is talking so much more, he’s much more confident. And the big changes - Tegan has grown sooo much!!

But what I love most of all is the things that don’t change - this family are so calm, peaceful and affectionate, there’s a lot of love in this small house.

And I may have mentioned once or twice how obsessed I am with Theo’s hair….

A little bit longer... with Alexandra, Jeremy and Jack

Maternity photographer central coast

Alex and Jeremy were a little nervous when they booked in for their maternity photography session. They claimed they weren’t really photo session types and were awkward in photos. Fortunately for me they had been referred to be me by one of their good friends - so they already knew my approach was pretty relaxed. I told them what I tell all nervous families - if you feel awkward just reach out to whoever is close to you and interact with them… cuddle with your child, hold your partner’s hand, engage in conversation and just deflect your attention away from the camera and towards one of your loved ones.

And these guys nailed it. Their gallery of images was so full of love because in each and every image they were giving their full attention to each other.

Their six year old son Jack was such a typical little boy - so full of joy and energy and great ideas. Jack wasn’t keen on posing, which is how I like it, but he LOVED chatting away while snuggling up with his family. Because Jack was relaxed and happy cuddled up with his parents, I was able to capture tons of gorgeous images of this beautiful family.

As they had booked in for a longer maternity session we were able to go to different locations to get a variety of beautiful images. We had a cruisy afternoon on their deck as they lazed around in the day bed, enjoying the sea breeze on a hot summer’s afternoon. Alex is super resourceful and had managed to get this day bed made to her specifications - at a fraction of the retail cost.

Their bedroom had beautiful light so we were able to get some gorgeous baby bump photos in there. Once the heat of the day had passed we headed down to the lake where this super mum jumped on her SUP for a paddle around the lake. Jack was able to run amok in the shallows and swim in the warm water.

I am so looking forward to spending more time with this super cool family when their new baby arrives soon.

Be in photos for your kids

Central Coast Family Photographer

I was putting together our yearly family photo album last year and I had a bit of a dilemma. There was only ONE photo of me.

One.

And it was a selfie my daughter had taken of the two of us.

Other than that.

Nada.

Oh dear.

As the mumma, the memory maker and photo taker, I had been so busy taking photos of the kids that I had not bothered to think about being in the images. And now our family album is decidedly lacking one member of the family.

So here’s my commitment for the new year. I will be in at least one image each and every week.

Sometimes I might be brave and share them on social media. Mostly I will probably hide them in the black hole of online storage that is my photo files. But definitely, when it comes to the end of the year, I will have at least 52 images that include me, so that in years to come, when I curl up on the couch with the kids to look at our photo albums, I will be in those photos too.

My children will see the love I have for them, in the way I hold them, in the way I dress them and do their hair, because I will take images of all of these moments with me in the frame.

So here’s a photo of my girl with her dadda - soon I’ll be in these photos too.

Short n sweet... with the Francis family

A gift voucher for a newborn baby photography session is one of the most popular reasons people buy gift certificates from me. For the family that already has everything they need, a photography session is the perfect present.

These guys chose to wait, rather than a newborn photography session, they waited until their gorgeous baby girl was 10 months old before they had their session together. Ohh and she was so very lovely. 10 months is a gorgeous age. Little Lexi was so bright and alert. She totally stole my heart with her toothy grin and her constant baby chatter. Plus those blue eyes. Stop it. She was like a doll. Just beautiful. She took delight in everything around her. She was constantly watching her big brother as he tore around the place. She giggled at leaves as they brushed by her. Everything was awesome to little Lexi.

For big brother Luka, everything was an adventure. He explored through the bush. He chased ducks. He found all sorts of interesting looking object along the waters edge. But the thing he loved most of all, was throwing rocks in the water. Big, rocks, little rocks, anything that made a splash.

Brant and Melissa were so chilled out with their little tribe. They happily let the kids lead the way through our session. By engaging their little ones and their natural curiosity to explore, it meant this sweet family had a relaxed, happy afternoon out at the lake, with me along with them to document this moment in their life.

Short n sweet with... Harrison and Baxter

Pet photography Central Coast

I was greeted at the door by this big, boofy, uber happy dog by the name of Baxter. Baxter is a six month old English Spaniel Springer and is still such a baby. He just loved to be loved. Harrison, the little man of the house, was soon there, keen to show me around his home and introduce me to all his treasures. Of course his favourite thing to do was play in the backyard with his best mate Baxter. Baxter is a little like my hound, loves to play fetch, but he does not like to return to stick to you. This resulted in Harrison spending a lot of time chasing Baxter around the yard, trying to get the toy back. Both of them adored this game.

Harrison showed me all his favourite toys and a very impressive lego collection, with some of the star designs made by his very own mum and dad. Every time Harrison showed me a different room in his home, his shadow Baxter was there beside him. Harrison and Baxter had a very brief snuggle on the bed, before it was time to race outside again and play under the sprinkler. Baxter absolutely LOVED playing under the hose. This funny dog ran, jumped and splashed non stop. Harrison laughed the whole time. These two were a blast to hang out with on a warm spring afternoon.

It was so beautiful to watch the special bond between this little boy and his dog. In Baxter, Harrison has a playmate, a best friend – total and utter unconditional love.

Dog Photography - Central Coast Animal Care Facility

Pet Photography Central Coast

When the call out came for help at the Central Coast Animal Care Facility, I couldn’t resist the chance to go and be part of things. The team at Gosford Pound are trying to raise money to help rescue and rehome abandoned animals and are creating a calendar as a fundraising event, so I donated my photography services to help out this worthy cause.

My kids have been intrigued by Gosford Pound for a long time - why is it there? Where do the dog comes from? What happens to them inside? Where do they go? They were so insistent in seeing how it all works we ended up having a drop by one afternoon a few months ago. The kids were a little taken back by the cages and a little bewildered by just how many dogs were there. My kids have got big hearts, they immediately wanted to take every dog home with us. Our dog was a little stray pup found on the street and my kids recognise how lucky she was to find us and have a loving home.

During my visit last week to photograph the dogs I was so impressed by the amount of carers that volunteered their time to help these dogs out. There were at least 7 volunteers walking dogs, playing with them, or just giving each dog love and affection. And the dogs just lapped it up.

Here’s hoping this helps a little bit to make life easier for our four legged friends.
