Short n sweet with the Proust family

Central Coast Family Photographer

Getting the extended family together for a family photo session isn’t easy - especially when multiple family members are emergency service personnel who do shift work. As such, this session was a few months in the making. And wouldn’t you know it? After waiting so long for our session together, the weather forecast was dodgy. When Therese called me a few days before hand to suss out what to do, I let her know we should hold tight and make the decision on the day. So of course as I’m driving to the beach to meet them, the storm clouds came rolling in and the heavens opened up. The extended family high tailed back home again where I met them wet and bedraggled, but in good spirits. We made the most of our time, the dads pulled out the beers and had a yarn. The kids lined up obediently for the obligatory youngest to oldest photo and everyone enjoyed just hanging out together.

As the weather cleared I was stoked when they chose to hit the beach again. We had a gorgeous afternoon hanging under a moody sky at Forries while the kids ran amok.

These images are especially poignant for this family as the patriarch of this motley crew is battling brain cancer. The week before this photo session, Dave’s hair began falling out. Despite the intensive treatment he is receiving, including chemo and radiation, Dave is putting up the best fight. He’s playing more golf than ever before, he’s got energy to keep up with his grandkids and can still spin a great yarn.
