Short n sweet ... with the Lane family

There is something a little nerve wracking as a photographer when a family books in with a photography horror story. Apparently at the Lane family’s last photo session a few years back, their beautiful daughter Ruby was NOT in the mood and had a scowl on her face IN EVERY SINGLE PHOTO. Cue an album full of photos with an angry child. Lucky they are able to laugh about it now - but still I was worried, would she do it again?!

Fortunately for me, it was not an issue. Sweet Ruby had a lovely afternoon with her little brother and their hound at the doggy area at Avoca Beach. The kids were so busy exploring, skimming rocks, searching in the shallows of the lake and generally having a good time that they barely noticed I was there. When we give kids the freedom to move, play and explore, they are much more relaxed and willing to cooperate when we do ask them to come together for a quick posed photo.

The weather had been horrendous, with lots of rain and wind. Mum Mel was ready to call the session off, but I’m so glad she trusted me when I said that wind and rain were this photographers best friend. The clouds in some of these images are just stunning.
