Short n sweet ... with the Fitzsimmons family

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER CENTRAL COAST

Some afternoons are just meant to be photographed—and this was one of them.

We were lucky to have the most incredible sunset during this session. Backburning in a nearby national park had left a soft smoky haze over the beach. As the sun dropped lower, the sky turned shades of red, orange, pink, and purple. It was one of those evenings where everything just felt calm and beautiful.

The wind was up too, which I actually love. It brings movement to everyone’s hair and clothing, and helps things feel natural and unposed. There’s a real sense of life in those kinds of images.

We let the eldest child take the lead, which is always a great way to keep the session relaxed. He showed us around the driftwood huts that others had built on the sand and climbed over rocks on the platform. Nothing was rushed, and everything felt easy.

These kinds of sessions are a good reminder that family photos don’t need to be perfect or posed. They just need to feel real.
