I love every maternity photography session, but there’s something incredibly special about capturing this chapter for a close friend. When you know the person behind the bump, when you’ve shared laughs, life changes, and the chaos of working in high schools, the connection you bring into the photos is so much deeper.

Ellie was getting close to the end of her pregnancy and, like so many expectant mums, juggling all the emotions that come with the final weeks. Her partner Mitch was away competing at Aussies, so we decided to take the opportunity for a quiet afternoon together—just her, the baby bump, and a bit of calm before life changes forever. It was the perfect time to sneak in a maternity session and document these beautiful, fleeting moments.

Maternity photography really is a kind of magic. It captures more than just a growing belly—it tells a story of love, strength, and anticipation. It’s about freezing a moment in time when everything is changing, yet there's so much beauty in the stillness. There’s something incredibly powerful in a simple pose, like Ellie gently holding her belly or looking off into the distance, imagining who her baby might be.
